Pastor Teddy Bates
I graduated from Cudahy High School in 1988, and by this time was heavily into drinking and parties of that era. I married in 1991 and had my first son, Dillon, who is now 16yr. I continued in my rebellious ways, and went on to Waukesha County Technical College where I was certified as an EMT, and started working for South Milwaukee Fire department. However, because of my lack of faith and rebelliousness, my marriage soon ended, and my drinking increased.
In 1997, my second son Austin who is now 12 years old was born and that following year 1998, I married his beautiful mother Amy, that worked tirelessly at trying to change my ways. While she was pregnant with our third son Dalton, who is now 10 years old, I became so intoxicated, I had to be hospitalized. It was then, in the time in my life that I was at my worst, one of the volunteers whom was a nun that worked on my floor, came in and began to pray over me. It was at that time, I felt a relief that I had never felt before, and as the tears of my sins flowed, I gave my life to the Lord.
I stopped all my drinking, and rebellious ways in order to devote all my available time to read and study the Bible. With the blessings of the Lord and the help of my wife as well as my father & mother, I was able to become a Deacon for Southeast Baptist Church. During my time as a Deacon, I have had the chance to touch so many lives that were similar to my past, that I became very active within the community as a little league baseball coach and middle school football coach for South Milwaukee School District during the 2004 & 2005 school years. During that time I nurtured the vision of new beginnings for all who seek a non-denominational church where man's laws take a back seat to that of the Bible's teachings.
In 2005, I became the pastor, and changed the name of the church to reflect that vision of a fresh start, thus the name South Milwaukee New Beginnings Church, a church of a non-denominational & self-governing belief. I believe in leading our congregation by teaching and preaching only God's word, and not that of man. My passion is to meet the spiritual needs of our surrounding community and beyond, by working with the spiritual gifts the Holy Spirit gives to us, as well as be a part of reaching out to the unbelievers, guiding them to see the light, and the way of the Lord. Wherever you are, there is always a place for you at South Milwaukee New Beginnings Church. I invite you to come join us, and remember that the only thing that matters, are the new beginnings that start today!
