Google Project Glass: New Way To See The World

Google unveiled its Project Glass, which is an augmented reality glass that can display chats, maps and a lot more. There are rumors that the glasses are already beyond the concept phase. Google employees who are familiar with the project confirmed that the glasses would be available to the public for $250 to $600 by the end of the year.

Google is not the first company to come out with the idea of augmented reality glasses but it it’s a company that has an unmatched consumer reach. The glasses were described to appeal to the masses. The Project Glass page shows people modeling the glasses that have a thin silver band across the forehead area and a small screen over their right eye.

The device looks like something out of the Terminator movies or DragonBall Z. A video that showcases the Google Project Glass shows a man using the device while eating breakfast and meeting a friend.

Google’s Babak Parviz, Steve Lee, and Sebastian Thrun wrote on the Google+ Page for the Project Glass stating that they shared the information on the project so that people would talk about it and provide input.

Google Project Glass might add another layer of digital distraction to the lives of people. But Google employees said that it would actually make tasks easier. Instead of reaching into the pocket to take a photo, the user could just press a button on the glasses.

The latest Intel processor, Ivy Bridge is now making its way for its latter launch this year. Hence, its manufacturing partners aimed to strike the opportunity equipping this Intel software mostly on their newly-designed laptops.

One good example is Sony. This company has been reported to come up with another notebook model for VAIO family expansion. In fact, last week, this rumored laptop, has made an appearance in the FCC database.

But then recently, more viable evidences are spotted. The soon-to-launch VAIO C series’ images leaked primarily in the NotebookReview.com forums. There aren’t indications yet, as to what will be the exact model number of this chromebook but the source can pretty tell that it will have a 15-inch panel display running on Ivy Bridge processor.

It comes in exciting colors as well, including pink, teal trim, black and silver trim too. Also, as for the basic case feature of Sony’s VAIO, the laptop’s top lid will have an embossed silver VAIO logo.

The current VAIO C cost starts at around $750, and so consumers would expect that this future to be released-chromebook will quite fall into that similar price line.

Google To Challenge Apple iPad With Co-Branded Tablets

Google wants to sell tablets in the near future that would feature its logo. This is the latest buzz floating in the internet these past days. It has been reported that Google will be working with its Android partners to develop the new tablets and would sell it on its own online store.

Google hopes that this move would allow the company to compete against Apple in the tablet market. This could also mean that the company is unhappy with the performance of its Android licensees. Google went this route with the Android smartphone when it launched its Google Nexus One in 2010. It was highly praised but didn’t do well in the market. This was partly because US carriers didn’t subsidize the cost of the handset, which left consumers having to pay the full retail price for it.

Google stopped selling the Nexus One and didn’t release another Google-branded handset on the market. The online search giant said that there is wide range of Android smartphones on the market that consumers can choose from, which is why it didn’t see the need to put out another Google smartphone. At present, Android smartphones hold majority of the mobile market.

Being involved with the development process is a positive step for Google. The company can help improve the deficiencies of its partner manufacturers.

News: Gadmei’s Glasses-Free 3D Tablets Go Android 4.0

Couple of months ago, Gadmei has started offering an 8-inch 3D glasses-free tablet. Yet this mere slate only runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform at that time.

But recently, new models of Gadmei tablet family popped up at FCC last week. These versions are now being powered by the latest Android firmware, the Ice Cream Sandwich OS. The two slates are named Gadmei T860 and Gadmei T883-D which are available for grabs at Brando for 222 US Dollars.

These both tablets seemed to be virtually identical. They have 8-inch panel displays on 1280 x 768-pixel resolution run by an ARM Cortex-A9 processor and Mali 400 graphics. Also they have 8 GB of enough memory storage used for storing videos and clips that can be previewed using the 3D technology without the use of any special glasses.

Added features include a 0.3MP front-facing cam and a 2MP rear camera, HDMI output and Wi-Fi connectivity as well.
